Who is Wesley Stuart?
NASM Certified Personal Trainer/Fitness Nutrition Specialist/CPR & AED Certified
I stared at this page for some time before I actually started typing and adding words to the white rectangular box. I started with a rant about what I thought of the fitness industry. Thought about the different types of people that make up the gym population; the meathead, the grupmy old man, the cardio queen, the yogi, the spinner, the workout-a-holic, the self myofascial release guy, the stair climbing newspaper reader…
After I wiped the sweat from my perspired forehead and replaced the few keys that were missing from my laptop’s keyboard scattered about the floor, I calmly reached for the backspace button, took a deep breath and thought about all of the people that I have trained, all of the people that were once strangers; now considered family.
I thought about who I was making this website for and who would be reading my blog. Thought about the people who trusted me and listened to me, the people who challenged me and passionately argued with me. I thought about all of the hours I spent in the gym and all of the conversations that I had with trainers and coaches that bounced around in my head. I thought about all if the information I have been carrying and yet failed to get out to the public, and my clients. Then, I decided to use the information I had and my creative outlook to make a change and a website to help my clients, friends and family get more out of their lives.
I was born in Custer Michigan, population 297 people strong. I grew up on a farm with a huge imagination and even more freedom. My family grew most of our food, when the seasons were appropriate, and we heated our own house. Picking rocks from a large field, driving tractors, bailing hay, chopping wood and shoveling snow were just some of the everyday chores I was exposed to.
At 4 years old I was initially exposed to training through gymnastics with over 10 years competing experience. I Participated in a multitude of sports in high school including basketball which I would later play on the college level in Grand Rapids Michigan. After I moved to California I was certified as a personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports and Medicine. I have worked in many gyms such as The Sports Club LA, Circuit Works, 220 Fitness, Iron LA and Equinox.
I spend my time researching fitness training philosophy, attending seminars, training clients, and producing valuable training content for fitness enthusiasts. Things I like to do for fun include surfing, road biking, beach volleyball, hiking, photography, watching enlightening documentaries and reading.
My training philosophy includes but is not limited to, encompassing the mind, body and heart connection. Working with individuals to improve quality of life through strength exercise and total body posture restoration. With specific programming implementation and nutrition many goals have been reached and lives changed.
